I fully agree. A new generation game would be fantastic!
The old games were quite good. The first one for PS1 (and PC) was hard as hell, but a very cool and unique detective game. And it was really cool to actually see the real actors in a game, in DVD quality! The one for PS2 started off like a generic zombie game, but got quite involved and scary. All voice acted by the actors and based on two episodes that never got made for TV, which made it feel like it was a part of the mythology we saw during season 5-6.

I always felt the "Resist or Serve" game did not fit the style of X-Files. A show that prided itself on rarely firing a gun should not be re-created as a Survival Horror game.
I'd love to see a new one based on the original PC game. While it had its flaws, point-and-click Adventure gaming is perfectly suited for the X-Files universe. With the recent success of TellTale's P-a-C games like Sam and Max and Monkey Island, I definitely think the possibility for success is there.
